Register in the CFMS

Every user of the CFMS must have an account in the CFMS. This page describes the procedure to do this. After registration, the CFMS is accessible at https://cfms.ugent.be.

Internal users

Users with an UGent account do not need specific registration as the CFMS is using Federated Single Sign-On of UGent. This means that the standard Multi Factor Authentication scheme will be used when logging in to the CFMS.

External users

External users need to use the Infinity page to register for a UGent Welcome Account. The procedure outlined below is a one-time process. Upon completion, direct login to CFMS will be enabled.

  1. Go to the registration page https://secure9.ideaelan.com/UGhent/Public/AppLogin.aspx and complete the form.

    This step ensures that your email address is known by the CFMS.

  2. Click the Join Now button.

    A message will be shown if the account is created sucessfully in the CFMS.

  3. An account activation mail will be sent to the specified email address. Click on the registration link in the activation mail.

    This step might be not applicable depending on the account type.

  4. Authenticate the login for your organization or email provider.

    The login must be authenticated by the organization the account belongs to. The method of authentication depends on the account type. This might be by an authentication app, email, SMS or a code. In the example below, the multi-factor authentication service of the UZGent is used.

    Complete the authentication procedure.

  5. Give consent to share identity information.

    Infinity and UGent need to share some information about your identity for the service.

    Click the consent button to approve.

  6. Welcome to Infinity.

    You are now logged in on the CFMS and are ready to request access to labs, facilities and instruments. This is described in detail in the Requesting access section.
